Amazing job Bafa, I love them all especially the Basenji, the Bavarian Mountain Hound, the Basset Artésien Normand, the Bretagne, the Basset Bleu and of cores the Beagle and Beagle-Harrier.

The Beagle-Harrier looks just like Carmel, my family and I all agree that you are a great Artist.

I’ve never heard of the Barbado da Terceira until today, I can’t wait to see what’s coming up next. What letter are you working on next?

Thank you, DogExpert. :) This means a lot to me!

Haha.. I didn't know this breed existed either. :XD: When I went to Poland last fall, I bought a Polish dog breed book. It's my best book yet as it has TONES of uncommon breeds! The Barbado da Terceira was one of the breeds listed! I did some research and, apparently, they are a somewhat known breed in their country.

Hmm.. I was going to do another B-Breeds, start C-Breeds or do the EF-Breeds... Not too sure yet. Any particular letter you would like me to start working on? ;)

Your welcome, your artwork really is Amazing.

I have a ton of dog books myself but none of them had any info on the Barbado da Terceira not even in my copies of Dogs: The Ultimate Dictionary of over 1,000 Dog Breeds by Desmond Morris or the World Atlas of Dog Breeds by Dominique De Vito, what’s the title of your book and who wrote it?

I would love to see the C-breeds, not only would I like to see my favorite breed the Chinook on there but I would also like to see one of my favorite European breeds the český horský pes or Czech Mountain Dog. It’s a new breed that was developed in the 1970s to be a sled dog in the Czech mountains; it looks like a cross between a Chinook and a St. Bernard but it took Canadian sled dogs and the Slovak Cuvac to make this breed. I’ve never seen this breed but if I ever go Europe it my goal to see one, here’s a link if you want to see what they look like [link]

I really can’t wait to see what page is next!

Thank you!

Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you! :(

I just got around in taking pictures of my favourite dog books! Here they are:

[link]

These are only a few of my books of course. I find these the most useful! :) The three bottom ones are my all time favourites! The bottom middle one, Rasy Psów by Eva-Maria Krämer, is the only book with info about the Barbado da Terceira.

Wow!! There is a book with 1000 dog breeds?!!! :wow: :jawdrop: Do they have Petit Bleus in there?!!?! :XD:

Cool!! I'll try to include the breeds you listed! :) I have never heard of these guys but would be more than happy to learn about them and include them into the project. If you have any other neat breeds you would like to see in upcoming pages, feel free to note me a list! I printed out the ones you listed some time ago! ^_^ It is suprising now much info I found by simply googling the breeds name. If it wasn't for you, I would have never known those breeds existed!

Ok, so C-Breeds will be next on my list of things to do! ;)

That’s ok I’ve been busy myself so I haven’t been able to finish typing DARE TO BE RARE part 3 but it’s almost done.

Cool, I have all but the polish dog book. My favorite out of those 6 books is The Mini-Atlas of Dog Breeds; it’s got great info on rare and even extant breeds.

Yes there is a book with 1000 dog breeds; The Ultimate Dictionary of over 1,000 Dog Breeds by Desmond Morris has basically every breed of dog that has ever existed. From purebreds and designers to the rare and extinct this book has it all. And yes it’s got Petit Bleus in it, there on page 76.

Awesome, can’t wait to see the Chinook and the Czech Mountain Dog on there.

Wow! I bet you have a collection of dog books! I was very lucky to come across that specific book in Poland. Like I said, it's my facvourite of the bunch!! ^_^ I think I am going to have to get "The Ultimate Dictionary of over 1,000 Dog Breeds"!! ^^; Haha! ;P

I'll start working on it then! ;)

I’ll try to it done as soon as I can.

Yeah I do have a collection of dog books; I have two bookcases full of them. The Ultimate Dictionary of over 1,000 Dog Breeds is like the crowning jewel of my collection. There are some rare breeds out there that aren’t in this book because they’re so new including The Czech Mountain Dog, The Northwest Farm Terrier, The Murray River Curly Coated Retriever, The Cambodian razorback dog and the Barbado da Terceira. I recommend this book to any dog lover.

Thanks again.

Ur welcome, wow, 10 from the hound group? that's a lot!

But they're my all time favorite.

In Mexico the breed groups there are 10 whereas in America there's only six. Also more kennel clubs are accepting designer dogs as official breeds.

I love hounds especially big scenthounds. :3

Really? That's so neat! Weird that they accept mutts as breeds. :/ They don't even have a purpose and standard! :XD:

I love scenthounds too. Sighthounds aren't bad either but the trouble with a lot of them is they chase after almost anything that moves.

I have a beagle and she has a habit of sniffing in places she really shouldn't.

One thing to keep in mind is a lot of purebred dogs used to be mixed. For instance, ancestors of modern greyhounds were crossbred with mastiffs when they arrived in England, making them stronger and more robust. Also the Tosa Inu or Japanese Mastiff as some call it is actually a mix of St. Bernard, Great Dane and other large breeds. Full grown males tip the scales at 200 lbs!

As for purpose, the Labradoodle(Lab/poodle mix), which originated in Australia in the '80s was bred to be a guide dog for people with dog allergies. I only know of two sizes, Standard and Mini.

There's a couple U.S. kennel clubs for them too.

I agree!! I find most sighthounds to be too thin looking. ;) Pretty nether the less!

Haha.. :XD: Well, I have a terrier and she goes into "hound mode" sometimes. I can only imagine what it's like to have an actual hound though! Hound mode all the time! Bealgles are s cute! :aww:

You are very right but current breeds have been bred that way for many many years and for a purpose. Most designer dogs now a days are only bred for money. I have heard of Australian Labradoodles and I find them quite cool! I'm sure they will be recognized as a breed world wide someday.

Good point, I suppose one reason why sighthounds are so skinny is because they're runners. Cheetahs are the same and seem to be able to outrun a lion.

Looking on wikipedia Soft coated wheaten terriers have a history for hearding, watching and guarding livestock and exterminating vermin.

Beagles have been used to catch rabbits and chase foxes.
Whenever mine sees pigeons she wants to chase them.

Most breeds get regconized by kennel clubs within 20-100 years or so. Dogs like Cockapoos(Cocker spaniel/poodle mix) have been around since the '60s.
